One of the most incredible things about fitness it that it is universally beneficial. It doesn’t matter what your age, gender, job or lifestyle currently is – beginning a fitness journey and committing yourself to taking on new challenges in the gym is always a powerful thing. One of our newest members, Milene, has quickly made an impression on our coaches, and she deserves a special shoutout. She will be competing in her FIRST ever bikini competition this weekend – the American Muscle Supply NPC Natural Capitol Classic, in 3 classes: Bikini Novice, Bikini 50+, and Bikini Open. She has been training under Coach Courtney’s guidance and nutrition coaching as part of the American Sled Dogs Bikini Prep program, and her positive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges is something we are all proud of. We can’t wait to see her take the stage this weekend and we know she’s going to do great!
1. When did you start your fitness journey?
I’ve always been interested in health and fitness. But recently I had a life altering loss and wanted to put my energy into something positive. I first met with Courtney in January of this year, and began working out at American Sled Dogs in March with the bikini prep membership package.
2. How has American Sled Dogs elevated your fitness journey and what is the biggest highlight of your time here as a member?
I met Courtney through a friend and she revolutionized my workout plan. She recommended that I participate in bikini competitions rather than a figure competition. The biggest highlight for me has been a soulful and spiritual transformation as well as the physical and mental. Being in this journey has been amazing. Courtney saw my vision. She understood the time limitations with my busy schedule (I work 6 days a week, 10 hours a day) that could hinder my plan but she designed the nutrition aspect of my training from the healthy eats section of the Bad Ass Coffee menu!
3. What are your fitness goals?
I would like to compete in more shows and eventually compete on a national level.
4. What keeps you motivated to achieve your goals?
5. How did you hear about American Sled Dogs?
My friend Eva
6. What is your favorite exercise and training day?
Glute and Hamstrings day. Before working with Courtney I had never squatted with a barbell before, and now the back squat is my favorite exercise!
7. What is your job/career?
I am the Co-Owner of the local Bad Ass Coffee shop near the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach.
8. What are you most looking forward to about your upcoming show?
I am looking forward to meeting other people who have similar goals and aspirations.
